Road & Transit Alert
QEW Burlington Skyway: Ongoing MTO bridge restoration continues to trigger overnight lane reductions, down to two lanes between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., through the end of the year. The Skyway bridge, Northshore Blvd ramps, and Eastport Drive bypass all remain open, but budget extra time for evening drives home or check 511on.ca before you leave.
This Week's Standouts
Five things worth building the rest of your week around:
Grape & Wine Outdoor Hoedown: Wednesday, Hernder Estate Wines, St. Catharines. Free. A casual midweek wind-down to close out the festival season.
Cicada Music & Arts Festival: Friday and Saturday, Henley Island, St. Catharines. Ticketed. Canadian indie, folk and roots acts across two days, plus a makers market.
Two Sides of Goodbye: Thursday through Sunday, Old Pelham Town Hall, Fenwick. World premiere double feature from the Foster Festival, and short runs here tend to sell out.
Amadeus closes at the Shaw Festival Sunday in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Final performances before it leaves the season for good.
Free museum weekend at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum: a Friday book launch, walking tours Saturday, all part of the Ontario Culture Days finale.
Local Insider Tips
The stuff that actually saves you time or money this week:
Skip the Falls between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Head to Clifton Hill and Table Rock around 6 p.m. instead. You'll catch golden hour over the Horseshoe Falls and walk straight into the nightly illuminations with easier parking.
Cicada Fest parking around Port Dalhousie fills fast on Saturday. Walk or bike in from the nearby St. Catharines neighbourhoods instead of circling for a spot.
Driving home from the Falls or Cicada Fest after 9 p.m.? Expect the Skyway down to two lanes. Give yourself extra time or check 511on.ca first.
Heading to Pelham Farmers' Market Thursday? Bring cash. Not every vendor takes cards.
Two Sides of Goodbye has a short run at a small venue. Book the Sunday closing show now rather than at the door.

Niagara Trivia
Cicada Fest borrows its name from the real insect, and real cicadas have one of the strangest life cycles in nature. Some species spend years living entirely underground as nymphs before ever surfacing. How long can that underground stage last for certain species?
