This is the official "squeeze the last drop out of summer" weekend in Niagara and it's notoriously easy to waste it sitting in Clifton Hill traffic or hunting for parking. Labour Day brings two of St. Catharines' biggest free festivals at once, live racing down in Fort Erie, and the final outdoor band shell show of the season.

The classic long-weekend anchor with midway rides, vendor booths, and live bands. Sunday night features the big fireworks display, and Monday morning brings the 11 a.m. parade marching down Glendale and Merritt St.
Insider Tip: Parking right at the park is a zoo by 6 p.m. Park on the side streets near Chestnut Street or Glendale Avenue and walk a few blocks down to skip the massive exit logjam after the fireworks.

Marshville Heritage Festival

Craving something outside the usual St. Catharines/Niagara Falls circuit? Head down to Wainfleet for craft cider, historic trade demonstrations, and vintage machinery.

Heading into Niagara Falls? Skip the $30–$40 tourist lots around Clifton Hill. Park at the Rapidsview Parking Lot on the Parkway instead ($10 flat rate for the day) and hop on the WEGO Green Line shuttle straight into Table Rock and the Falls area. You save $20+ and completely avoid the bumper-to-bumper strip traffic.
(Note: Shuttle service to Table Rock is included, though if you plan to ride WEGO buses across the broader city loop all day, standard WEGO day passes apply).
